Earth attracts every object towards it by a force. This force is called force of gravitation or gravitational pull.

This gravitational pull is also called as fore of attraction, as it attracts things towards earth.

An object falls on the earth and this is due to force of Gravity or Gravitational pull.

Example: When you throw a ball vertically upwards it gets back to the surface of earth, this is due to the gravitational pull.

Not only earth attracts object towards it but, but all objects in the universe attracts each other as stated by Newton and this force of Attraction between objects is called  the Gravitational Force.

UNIVERSAL LAW OF GRAVITATION

Definition:

According to Newton:

“Every object in the universe attracts every other object with a force which is proportional to the product of masses and inversely proportional to the square of distance between them.”

Proof:

Let us consider two objects ‘S’ and ‘K’ of Masses ‘M’ and ‘m’ and they are separated by a distance ‘r’ and the force of attraction that is acting between the two objects be ‘F’.
