FREE FALL
Whenever objects fall on the earth which is due to gravitational pull and this gravitational pull of earth which makes object fall towards it under this force alone is called as FREE FALL.
When the object fall towards the earth, there will be no change in the direction of motion but as the earth attracts the object there will be change in the magnitude of the velocity.
So, whenever an object falls towards the earth there is acceleration due to Earths pull or gravitational pull and thus the acceleration produced is called Acceleration due to Gravity.
The gravitational force of earth is called as acceleration due to gravity.
Acceleration due to gravity is denoted by ‘g’.
Let us consider an object K of Mass m is dropped from a height and the force that is acting on the object K is due to gravitational force.
